General Description of the Programme:

GOAL has been working in Syria since 2013, responding to the acute needs of conflict-affected communities. GOAL is working in Idleb Governate, both through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, and provision of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) through support to Water units, as well as emergency support to recently displaced households.

GOAL has been working in North Aleppo Governate since 2019, through direct implementation and through partners, delivering food, non-food programming to highly vulnerable populations, as well as emergency support for recently displaced households.

 

Job purpose:

GOAL Syria and its partners receive goods at the border crossing point between Syria and Turkey. The purpose of this role is to oversee the receipt of these goods, to ensure that they are accurately recorded and that the transfer process is completed in a controlled and orderly fashion.

 

Duties, objectives and competencies

Liaise with GOAL and supplier staff on the Turkish side of the border crossing and ensure that trucks are arranged to collect all incoming deliveries,
Ensure all incoming items are accurately recorded in the approved documentation, such as GIDs in accordance with GOAL Logistics Policies.
Liaise with Customs Officers and Officials to ensure that deliveries are completed on schedule with the minimum of interruption/disruption.
Liaise with GOAL partner team and GOAL partners to supervise the receipt of GOAL partner stocks providing support and capacity building to partners as appropriate and agreed with the Partnership Team,
Support the passage of GOAL staff across the border through the development of close working relationships with Local Customs Officers and Officials,
Remain up-to-date with all cross border procedures and alert management to any changes in procedures including analysis of the impacts of such changes on GOALs operations.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on border crossing activities for the Field Logistic Manager, LM and Logistic Coordinator.
Follow up the activities of the Border Inspection, making sure that adequate labour is available where necessary, accurate records are kept and stock does not go missing during the transfer process.
Any other duties as required
 

Requirements (essential)

Gratuted from recognized University.
At least 2 years of similar experience.
Ability to write, speak in Turkish.
Good interpersonal skills and capacity to build relationships with suppliers based on honesty and integrity.
Ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload in a rapidly changing work environment;
Willingness to learn and to take on extra duties as required;
Good computer skills including Microsoft word and excel;
A flexible approach to work and willingness to work additional hours or on weekends as required;
Requirements (desired)

Ability to write, speak and work in English.
Have a Passport and be willing and able to enter into and operate within the zero-point zone,
Completed training in Supply Chain Management
